48 clauses of CHT Peace Accord executed, 238 Army camps withdrawn- Birbahadur in Parliament

48 of 72 clauses has executed as per Chittagong Hill Tracks (CHT) Peace Accord 1997, stated by the CHT Affair Minister Birbahadur Ushoi Shing in the Parliament. Answering to the question of A K M Jahangir in Parliament on Wednesday, minister said, 15 clauses are executed partly, 9 are ongoing.  238 Military Camp have already withdrawn by the Government.

State Minister Birbahadur said, in 1997 on December 2nd, Peace Accord was signed between government and Janasanghati Samiti (JSS). This Accord has four sections with 72 Clauses whereas 4 in Section A, 35 in B, 14 in C and the rest were incorporated in D.

According to the Accord, 33 focused area (department) in each district decided to handover whereas 29 in Rangamati and Khagrachari and 28 in Bandarban has handed over. The process to handover the rest is in a loop. Birbahadur mentioned.

He expressed, CHT Peace Accord 1997 is the milestone which made a win-win situation in Hills between Tribal and Bengali and ended up 2 ages of blood sheds.

As per Accord, a task force was formed to identify and rehabilitation of Indian returnees and stateless. Government was also legislated Vested Properties Released Act 2001 and the amendment in processing. In every sector, such as Education, health, agriculture, poverty elimination, food security, development process is on.

Quota for Ethnic in government services and higher education has reserved as per Accord. Establishment process of  Medical College and Science and Technology University is going on.
