Ctg depot fire: Two firefighters, from Rangamati, killed
Two of the firefighters who died trying to douse an inferno at an inland container depot in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong hail from Rangamati.
They are Mithu Dewan, 50, a native of Rangamati’s West Tribal area, and Nipon, from Mantripara in the city’s College Gate area.
Mithu worked at Kumira Fire Service Station. He had rejoined work on Saturday, June 04, 2022, after a 12-day vacation. The station was the first to send out units to the inferno.
He was the sole earner of the family, which also consisted of his wife and a daughter.

He is survived by his wife, Sumona Chakma, and two daughters – one studying in college and the other in the sixth grade.
