EU delegation visits Rohingya camp

A delegation from the European Union (EU) has visited the Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia.

Led by Charles Whiteley, the EU Ambassador to Bangladesh, the four-member delegation arrived at Camp No. 4 in Ukhia around 10:30 AM on Monday (13 November).

Other members of the delegation included Deputy Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service (EEAS) Paola Pampaloni, Monika Bylaite, deputy head of delegation for South Asia at the EEAS and 

Other members of the delegation included Paola Pampaloni, the Acting Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at EU Brussels,and Mike Ahern, the Technical Assistant at ECHO Bangladesh.

The visit’s authenticity was confirmed by Md Iqbal, the Commanding Officer of the 14-APBn in Ukhia.

He informed that on Monday morning, the EU delegation, under the leadership of the EU Ambassador, visited several sites in Camp-4, including the UNHCR-managed Rohingya Data Registration Center located in Block A/1, the Community Based Protection Center managed by the NGO ACTED with UNICEF funding in Block B/1, the Learning Center operated by the NGO “Mukti-Cox’s Bazar” with UNICEF funding in Block A/7, and the WFP-managed E-Voucher Outlet in Block G/1. The delegation left the Rohingya camp in the afternoon.
