JAGO PARBOTTABASI calls 36 hrs-hartal in Bandarban to resist SANTU’s Visit

Newly floated organization “Jago Parbottabasi” calls 36 hour HARTAL in Bandarban on March 12, 13 in protest of Santu Larma’s visit to the district, including demand of stopping terrorist activities, illegal levy raising and rampant abduction. To make the program a success, the organization will demonstrate on the streets of Bandarban onMarch 11. Earlier, a host of people arranged a gala press conference in the Bandarban Press Club on February 25 and announced the formation of the JAGO PARBOTTABASI, taking popular support of the mass. Abidur Rahman, chief leader of the newly floated organization ascertained the HARTAL program and said all the Bengali Rights organizations extended their support to this announced program, expressing their solidarity.
On the contrary, it was announced that Regional Council chairman and president of Jana Sangati Samitee Jotirindra Bodhipriyo Larma alias Santu Larma’s visit schedule to Bandarban is on March 12. He will participate to a Hill Council’s district student’s conference to be held at FARUQUE PARA in CHIMBUK PAHAR on March 13. There creates a volatile situation after sudden announcement of HARTAL program on the eve of Santu Larma’s Bandarban visit. Locals said JAGO PARBOTTABASI after its inception, though the newly born organ has no front or branch organization, the local BNP and JAMAAT leaders and activists are patronizing the party. ABIDUR RAHMAN, the chief of the newly floated organization said to the media as rampant levy rising, terrorist acts and insurgencies on hill areas are run by the SANTU LARMA’s organization, so we compel to call HARTAL on the very days of his visit to Bandarban.
While contacted, Jana Sangati Samitee central leader and Regional Council member K S Mung Marma said a few extremist organizations by the patronization of the influential persons living in the locality engage to destroy peace and tranquility in the hill region. JSS is aware of their activities and its leaders and activists are not afraid of them. As Santu Larma holds the status of STATE MINISTER, so it is government’s responsibility to guard and protect him. The local administration knows how Santu Larma will visit Bandarban. HARTAL program cann’t damages the program of hill student’s conference, he added. Police Super DEBDASH BHATYACHARYA told administration has taken all necessary steps to avoid untoward situation on occasion of Santu Larma’s visit to Bandarban. Besides, additional police forces to be deployed at sensitive points.
