Moghbazar triple murder: Kala Babu killed in ‘shootout’

Kala Babu, the prime accused in Moghbazar triple murder case, was killed in an encounter with the members of Detective Branch of police at Moghbazar area in the capital early Monday.

SI Mizanur Rahman of Ramna Police Station said, acting on a tip-off, a DB police team raided the area around 4am.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, Babu and his cohorts opened fire. In retaliation, police also fired back that led to a gunfight.

‘Babu was caught in the line of fire’ said SI. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died around 5am.

Two cops were also injured. They were admitted to Rajarbagh Police Hospital. Police arrested two accomplices of Babu. One  gun and seven bullets were sized from their possession.

On August 28, Kala Babu, a local terrorist, along with some other terrorists went to Munna and Ranu’s Sonalibagh flat at night and demanded extortion from them. Failing to get extortion, Babu opened fire from his gun, leaving Ranu, Munna and Billal dead on the spot.
