PCCP condemns armed extortion attempt at Rangamati university

The Parbatya Chattogram Chhatra Parishad (PCCP) has condemned an alleged armed demonstration at Rangamati Science and Technology University by members of a hill-based group.

In a statement issued on Friday, PCCSP said seven armed individuals entered the campus late Thursday night and demanded extortion money from workers involved in development projects.

The group allegedly seized mobile phones from 15 workers and threatened violence if payments were not made. The incident reportedly caused panic across the campus.

PCCP blamed two regional groups—PCJSS and UPDF—for similar past incidents and called on the government to take legal action and ensure campus security.

It warned of protests if such disruptions continue.
