BNP has announced a nationwide programme of religious observances and prayers for the immediate recovery and improved health of the party’s chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The announcement was made by the party’s senior joint secretary general, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, during a press conference at the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan on Thursday.
The programme is set for Friday and will involve coordinated prayers across the country.
Rizvi said that dua and munajat would be held in every mosque after the Jumu’ah prayers for Khaleda Zia’s swift recovery, and that members of the Hindu, Buddhist and Christian communities would also offer prayers in their respective temples, churches, pagodas and other places of worship, following the rituals and customs of their own faiths.
The BNP leader said that the party chairperson’s condition remained unchanged and that she continued to receive medical treatment.
Rizvi said that despite the seriousness of her illness, she was still able to undergo and receive treatment.
Meanwhile, the interim government has called for special prayers for the quick recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia, the BNP chairperson, former prime minister and wife of late president Ziaur Rahman.
The prayers would be held in all mosques across the country after the Jumu’ah prayers on Friday.
The government has also requested that temples, churches, pagodas and other places of worship to hold prayers according to their own religious traditions.
People from all walks of life have been asked to pray for her recovery from wherever they are.
The chief adviser’s press wing disclosed this information in a press release on Thursday.
