DU show-cause notice to DUCSU executive Sarba Mitra Chakma over ‘ear-holding squats’

Dhaka University (DU) authorities have served a show-cause notice on Sarba Mitra Chakma, an executive member of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), over an incident in which around 30 teenagers and young men were reportedly made to do squats while holding their ears for coming to play at the university’s central field.
DU Proctor Assistant Professor Saifuddin Ahmed confirmed the matter on Monday (January 26).
He said the notice asked Chakma to submit a written explanation within 24 hours. The university authorities will take further necessary action after reviewing his response.
On January 6, around 30 youths were reportedly lined up at the southeast corner of the central playing field and made to do ear-holding squats. Their ages were estimated to be between 13 and 21–22.
