PM Tarique Rahman attends office at Armed Forces Division for first time

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday attended his office at the Armed Forces Division (AFD) in Dhaka Cantonment, marking his first visit there since assuming office.
During the visit, the prime minister, alongside Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, adorned the rank badges of Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman and Major General Mohammad Kaisar Rashid Chowdhury.
Mir Mushfiqur, general officer commanding (GOC) of the 24th Infantry Division in Chattogram, was yesterday promoted to lieutenant general and appointed principal staff officer (PSO) at the AFD, according to officials.
Mohammad Kaisar Rashid Chowdhury, previously a brigadier general, was appointed director general of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) after being promoted to major general and transferred from Army Headquarters to DGFI headquarters, they said.
Tarique reached the AFD around 9:00am and was received by the chiefs of the three services, Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said.
He later exchanged greetings with the service chiefs and other senior military officials.
Officials said the visit was part of the prime minister’s scheduled engagements and reflected the government’s continued coordination with the armed forces.
Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brig Gen (retd) AKM Shamsul Islam, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Defence Secretary Md Ashraf Uddin, Press Secretary Saleh Shibly, Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon, and Private Secretary-2 Md Mehedul Islam, among others, were present.
