Rohingya man shot dead in Cox’s Bazar

A 30-year-old Rohingya man was shot dead by miscreants at Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Imam Hossain, a resident of no 4 Ukhiya Rohingya camp.

Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamim Hossain said a group of miscreants came to the camp and opened fire on Imam, leaving him dead on the spot.

The OC said: “A group of unidentified miscreants shot Imam Hossain at the Rohingya camp and fled. Upon receiving the information, the police rushed to the scene and recovered the body. The body was later sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.”

He added: “Police patrolling has been increased at the site after the incident. Legal action is being taken in this regard. The matter will be investigated.”

Police said he might have been killed following enmity over establishing supremacy.
