AL sweeps CHT in general elections

The Awami League has secured a resounding victory in all three constituencies of the Chattogram Hill Tracts in Bangladesh’s 12th parliamentary elections.
Khagrachhari
In Khagrachhari-298, Awami League’s Kujendra Lal Tripura won his third term with 220,816 votes.
His challengers from the Jatiya Party, Trinamool BNP, and National Peoples Party had minimal impact.
The constituency reported a voter turnout of nearly 50%.
Rangamati
Awami League candidate Dipankar Talukdar achieved a significant victory in Rangamati-299, securing 271,373 votes.
His competitors, from Sangskritik Mukti Jote and Trinamool BNP, received a combined total of just 7,688 votes.
The voter turnout was 41.50 per cent.
Bandarban
In Bandarban-300, Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing of the Awami League clinched his seventh consecutive victory with 172,240 votes, far surpassing ATM Shahidul Islam of the Jatiya Party.
A veteran in the Awami League and the incumbent Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Ushwe Sing has been a key political figure since 1991.
Voting in the Chattogram Hill Tracts for the 12th parliamentary election ran from 8 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, in accordance with the national schedule, with vote counting beginning thereafter.
