The Arakan Army, a rebel group in Myanmar, released 10 Bangladeshi fishermen on Thursday evening, after abducting them earlier while they were fishing in the Naf River along the Ukhiya border. The release occurred around 7:45 PM through the Ghumdhum border crossing in the Naikhongchhari sub-district of Bandarban, officials confirmed.
Tanvir Hossain, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Ukhiya, stated that the fishermen were intercepted by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) for interrogation upon their return and subsequently handed over to their families.
Gafur Chowdhury, Chairman of the Palongkhali Union Parishad, affirmed the safe return of the fishermen, noting that all were in good health following their release.
