New Chief of Army Staff pays courtesy call on President

New Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman paid a courtesy call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban on Sunday evening.

President’s wife Dr Rebeka Sultana was present at the time, said a media statement.

Congratulating the new Army Chief, the President said the members of the armed forces division are performing various responsibilities at the national

and international levels with great success.

The Head of State also mentioned that the professionalism and skills of the army personnel are being appreciated in various peacekeeping missions abroad.

Besides, the army is playing an important role in the implementation of various development projects and during various crises including national disasters, he added.

Under the leadership of the new army chief, the Bangladesh Army will move forward on the path of development and prosperity, the president hoped.

During the meeting, the new army chief sought the President’s guidance and overall cooperation in fulfilling his responsibilities.

The secretaries of the President’s office were also present.
