Mahalchhari Zone distributes relief to flood victims
The Bangladesh Army’s Mahalchhari Zone distributed relief materials to families affected by heavy rain and flooding in Khagrachari.
Flooding occurred in the Choungrachhari cluster village area after excessive rainfall caused the Chengi River to rise above the danger level, leaving around 100 families stranded.
On Thursday, Lt. Col. Shahriar Safkat Bhuiyan, PSC, commander of the Mahalchhari Zone, led the distribution of relief supplies to the affected families.
Residents expressed relief after receiving the aid. “We’ve been trapped by the floodwaters for two days and couldn’t get to the market,” said Md. Din Mia. “Today’s assistance from the Mahalchhari Zone has made us happy.”
The Mahalchhari Zone, under the Khagrachari Region, has been conducting various public welfare programs in addition to its efforts to promote peace, harmony, and development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The Bangladesh Army continues to play a significant role in responding to natural and man-made disasters, as well as contributing to the country’s socio-economic and infrastructural development.
The zone commander reaffirmed that the Bangladesh Army is committed to supporting the underprivileged and will continue this effort in the future.
