Man dies while setting fire to jhum land in Sajek

A man died while setting fire to his jhum plantation in Sajek union of Rangamati’s Baghaichhari upazila on Tuesday.
The victim is Toyan Tripura, 50 of the Kanglak Para area.
Organising secretary of the Sajek Cottage and Resort Owners Association, Rahul Chakma John, said Toyan started the fire to burn his jhum land in the Kanglak Para area at noon.
However, when the fire spread, he got trapped and was unable to get out.
Locals later rescued him but he died on his way to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital.
Baghaichhari UNO Shirin Akhter confirmed the incident.
