Basad chief warns of alleged plot to form Christian state using parts of Bangladesh, India, and Myanmar

Basad General Secretary Bazlur Rashid Firoz on Friday claimed that a conspiracy is underway to establish a Christian state incorporating Bandarban in Bangladesh, Rakhine in Myanmar, and India’s Manipur and Mizoram.
Speaking at a rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club, organised by Basad (Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal) the party to protest Israel’s actions in Palestine, Firoz alleged that the United States might support the creation of such a state to serve its strategic interests in the region.
“Whether anyone in Bangladesh is advancing this agenda, we don’t know,” he said. “But if such a state is created, it will eventually fall under American control. Bangladesh must remain vigilant.”
Firoz also criticised the foreign policy outlook of former US President Donald Trump, citing his assertions about territorial dominance — such as claiming the Gulf of Mexico as the “American Gulf” and suggesting Greenland and Canada be brought under US control.
He linked the alleged plot to US attempts to curb China’s economic rise, stating that a new state comprising Rakhine, Bandarban, Mizoram, and Manipur would allow the US to install UN peacekeepers and establish regional authority.
On the Palestine issue, Firoz urged the Bangladesh government to sever all ties with Israel and reinstate a clause on its passport stating the restriction of travel to Israel.
“That clause was removed during the tenure of the fascist Hasina regime,” he said. “We demand its return.”
Calling the conflict in Gaza a war against imperialism, not a religious one, Firoz said people of all faiths — including Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, and Jews — are protesting Israel’s actions.
He cited recent declarations from Middle Eastern countries refusing to allow their airspace and territory to be used for war efforts against Palestine, urging Bangladesh to adopt a similar stance.
Basad leaders Zulfiqar Ali and Khalekuzzaman Lipon also spoke at the rally, which concluded with a protest march on the Press Club premises.
