BNP finalises 90-day election strategy

The BNP has finalised its election strategy with a 90-day campaign plan aimed at comprehensive readiness ahead of the upcoming national polls, according to a report published in a leading Bangla daily.

Despite the expected absence of the ruling Awami League, the BNP is treating the election as a significant political test. Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has begun the candidate selection process, requiring detailed disclosures from aspirants regarding personal conduct, financial transparency, and organisational contribution. As per the report run by Bangladesh Pratidin, all nomination seekers will undergo a rigorous vetting process.

As part of a broader effort to ensure a free, fair, and credible election, the party is preparing a structured three-month campaign covering guidelines for candidate behaviour, polling agent mobilisation, grassroots readiness, and voter outreach.

Candidate Evaluation Criteria

Each potential candidate will be evaluated based on their prior role in party movements, contribution to anti-authoritarian protests, personal sacrifices, number of legal cases filed against them, and time spent in prison. Additionally, candidates will be required to submit full income and expenditure statements directly to the acting chairman.

Code of Conduct and Campaign Priorities

According to the daily, a detailed code of conduct will outline how candidates must interact with voters, local communities, and rival parties. In addition to the BNP’s 31-point reform agenda, nominees will also focus on local issues that directly impact voter welfare.

Polling Agent Strategy

Polling agents will be appointed in advance and trained. The party will prepare three-layered reserve lists for each centre to ensure uninterrupted presence on polling day in case of emergency.

Grassroots Training and Oversight

The BNP also plans to deliver special election training for grassroots workers, with focus on voter turnout, fraud prevention, managing disruptions, and maintaining transparency during vote counting and result announcements.

Digital Monitoring and Response

To tackle online disinformation, the party will deploy trained digital response teams across the country to counter smear campaigns and misinformation targeting BNP candidates and activists.

Allied Candidates under Unified Framework

Candidates from allied parties contesting under the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol will be brought under the same scrutiny and strategic framework.

The party leadership has expressed willingness to fully cooperate with the Election Commission and law enforcement to ensure peaceful, orderly, and credible elections.
