BNP, Jamaat to meet Chief Adviser Yunus amid resignation talk

PARBATTA NEWS DESK
As Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus is reportedly considering resignation, BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami prepare for separate meetings with him on Saturday evening.
Sources from both parties confirmed on Friday that the meetings will take place on May 24. BNP is scheduled to meet Yunus at 7:00pm at his official residence, followed by Jamaat.
The meetings come amid rising political tension and speculation over Yunus’s resignation.
NCP Convenor Nahid Islam, who met Yunus on Thursday, said the Chief Adviser expressed frustration and hinted he may step down due to political pressure and lack of cooperation.
Islam said he urged Yunus not to resign.
BNP says it wants Yunus to remain but will demand an election roadmap and the removal of three advisers, including the national security adviser.
The party has warned it may withdraw cooperation with the government if a clear election roadmap is not announced immediately.
An NCP leader also accused three other advisers on Thursday afternoon of acting as “BNP spokespersons” and said they too could face calls for resignation.
Information Adviser Mahfuz Alam later issued a statement expressing regret for earlier divisive remarks.
The Chief Adviser’s Office has not commented on the resignation reports.
