Europe supports Bangladesh in repatriating Rohingya refugees, says Bangladesh Foreign Minister
DESK RPEORT
European Union and Western European nations are backing Bangladesh’s efforts to repatriate Rohingya refugees to Myanmar, Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud reported during a parliamentary session on Thursday.
Answering a question from Abdullah Nahid Nigar, an independent member of parliament, during the session’s question and answer period, Mahmud detailed the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
He noted that in addition to direct discussions with Myanmar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively working to apply international pressure on Myanmar to facilitate the repatriation process.
As a result of ongoing diplomatic efforts, the European Union and Western European nations have continued their support, providing a wide range of humanitarian and political assistance to ensure the sustainable, safe, and swift repatriation of the forcibly displaced Rohingyas to Myanmar, the Foreign Minister added.
