STAFF REPORTER, RANGAMATI

Forest Department officials have rescued a monkey that had been causing panic in Rangamati after attacking residents and damaging property. The monkey was safely captured on Wednesday afternoon in the Alam Dock Yard area of the city.

Over the past few days, the monkey had reportedly entered homes in the Garjontoli and Alam Dock Yard neighborhoods, injuring several individuals and destroying food supplies. Its actions spurred fear among the local community.

A resident and wood businessman, Md. Emdad Hossain Hiru, managed to trap the monkey. He subsequently notified the Forest Department, who intervened to take the animal into their care.

Abu Sufian, Range Officer of the South Forest Division of the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Kaptai Upazila, stated that the monkey will be released back into its natural habitat within the Kaptai National Park.
