Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized a cache of fuel and dry food items during a patrol near the Myanmar border in Naikhongchhari, Bandarban district.

The operation, conducted on Wednesday (March 20th) at 10:50 AM, was led by Havildar Lutfor Rahman of the 11 BGB Battalion. The patrol team recovered 70 liters of octane fuel and 34 cartons of assorted biscuits abandoned near the border. The process of depositing the seized goods to the zone headquarters is under way.

Smugglers frequently exploit difficult terrain along the border, from Ghumdhum to Naikhongchhari Sadar Union, to transport goods into Myanmar for higher profits. Local sources indicate that a significant portion of those involved in smuggling operations are residents of the border region.

A local resident, Nuruzzaman, commended the BGB’s tireless efforts to combat smuggling activities. He acknowledged that challenging terrain sometimes hinders the BGB’s operations.
