MNP threatens war against JSS in Chittagong Hill Tracts

PARBATTA NEWS REPORT

Marma National Party (MNP) has threatened to wage war against the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (JSS), alleging the deployment of three platoons of armed terrorists in the Chittagong Hill Tracts regions of Kaptai, Bilaichhari, and Bandarban.

The MNP has set a deadline of February 1st for the withdrawal of these forces, warning that any harm to its supporters or Marma community members will trigger an immediate response.

The threat was issued by a commander of the MNP, during a live broadcast from a Facebook account named ‘MNP Commando Mongthen’ on Saturday (Jan 27). An investigation by Parbatta News confirmed the Marma commander who made the threat was MNP’s Major Rony Marma.

According to Major Marma, JSS has significantly ramped up its armed operations in Kaptai, Bilaichhari, Bandarban, and Roangchhari, targeting MNP well-wishers, supporters, and individuals opposing JSS, including ruling party members.

These activities, he alleged, are orchestrated under the guidance of Santu Larma and Ushatan Talukdar, referred to as the godfathers of JSS terrorists.

Major Rony Marma elaborated that the war, if declared, will be twofold: against Marmas collaborating with JSS and against Chakma terrorists.

He emphasized that the MNP is committed to an unyielding campaign aimed at the complete annihilation of Chakma terrorists and is prepared to deploy its members across the three hill districts to accomplish this.

Major Marma signed off warning Santu Larma: “If JSS forces are not withdrawn by February 1st, he will bear full responsibility for the ensuing conflict, with no ability to prevent the war.”
