At the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, 21 Myanmar military members are set to seek refuge following intense gunfire and a clash with the Arakan Army, which already saw 179 soldiers flee into Bangladesh.

Among the escapees, Tu Yo Mong, 42, mentioned that a group still hides near the border, aiming for refuge.

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been providing humanitarian aid and medical care to the escaped Myanmar troops since Monday.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, continuous gunfire near the Jamchhari border heightened local worries.

The use of schools for military shelter also raises concerns over educational disruptions.

Earlier in February, Bangladesh repatriated 330 Myanmar nationals, fleeing from internal conflicts.
