Khiyang woman found dead in Bandarban forest, locals allege gang rape and murder

Police have recovered the body of a woman in a remote forested area of Bandarban’s Thanchi upazila, amid allegations from locals that she was gang-raped and murdered.
The victim, identified as 29-year-old Chingma Khiyang, went missing on Sunday after leaving home for jhum cultivation in the hills near Tindu Union. She did not return, prompting a search by local residents.
On Monday afternoon, villagers discovered drag marks in the forest and later found her bloodied body. They alerted police, who have since dispatched a team to the site.
Local officials say the area is extremely remote and lacks mobile network coverage. Tindu Union Chairman Bhagyochandra Tripura said he informed police after learning of the incident and is accompanying officers to the scene.
Thanchi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Nasir Uddin Majumder confirmed the recovery and said further investigations are under way.
