Budget FY23: Increased allocation proposed for CHT

An increased allocation has been proposed for the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts in the upcoming 2022-23 fiscal year’s budget.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal proposed the increased allocation in the national budget of Tk 6.78 trillion he placed in parliament on Thursday afternoon.

A total of Tk 1,338 crore has been proposed for the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts, Mr Kamal said in the budget speech.

This allocation marks an increase of Tk 156 crore and Tk 24 crore from the previous fiscal’s 1,182 crore budget and 1,314 crore revised budget.

The proposed Tk 6.78-trillion budget for the upcoming fiscal is the biggest in Bangladesh’s history.
