Mizoram launches investigation into suspected JSS terrorist camps along border

PARBATTA NEWS REPORT

The Mizoram Home Department has mandated the Superintendents of Police (SPs) in Lunglei and Mamit districts to verify the presence of suspected terrorist training camps along the border areas of Mamit and Lunglei.

This directive follows assertions from the Peace Accord MNF Returnees Association (PAMRA), claiming the existence of training facilities for terrorist factions originating from Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts within these districts of Mizoram.

According to PAMRA, the Chakma terrorist faction from Bangladesh’s CHT, namely the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti under Santu Larma’s leadership, is actively involved in training activities across six sites in Lunglei and two in Mamit.

PAMRA has voiced concerns that the ongoing training of armed militants poses a significant threat to the safety and security of Mizoram and its inhabitants. They have implored the state authorities to take immediate and decisive actions to dismantle these training operations.

David Lalthangliana, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Mizoram’s Home Department, speaking with Northeast Live, confirmed that the SPs of Lunglei and Mamit have been tasked with conducting thorough on-site inspections and to subsequently report their findings.
