5 UPDF members sent to jail in Rangamati

A Rangamati court on Tuesday ordered that five members of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF-Prasit Group) arrested in Rangamati’s Baghaichari upazila be sent to jail.

The arrestees are Biplap Chakma, 33, Mithun Chakma, 28, Riton Chakma, 33, Ratoe Chakma, 23, and Padma Ranjan Chakma, 42.

The security forces arrested them in a raid on Achalchug Banbihar area of ​​ Khagrachari’s Dighinala-Rangamati’s Baghaichari upazila road.

One LG, two cartridges, two motorcycles, American dollars, Indian rupees and extortion receipts were recovered from them.

After their arrest, they were brought to Baghaichari police station and the police filed a case against them for possession of illegal weapons.

Baghaichhari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Istiaq Ahmed said that when the detained UPDF armed personnel were brought to court, the court ordered them to be sent to jail after the hearing.
