Army chief receives farewell reception at Chattogram Cantonment

General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed, the outgoing Colonel Commandant of the Bangladesh Army’s East Bengal Regiment, Regiment of Artillery, and Corps of Military Police, was given a farewell reception at the East Bengal Regimental Centre in Chattogram Cantonment on Sunday.
A smart contingent of soldiers from the three regiments performed a military parade to honor General Ahmed, who then delivered his farewell address, thanking Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for transforming the Bangladesh Army into a modern and skilled force. He also expressed gratitude to those who supported him during his tenure.
General Ahmed assumed the role of Colonel Commandant of the East Bengal Regiment in November 2021, the Regiment of Artillery in March 2022, and the Corps of Military Police in October 2020. The event was attended by senior officers from Army Headquarters, the East Bengal Regiment, the Regiment of Artillery, the Military Police, and the 24th Infantry Division, as well as JCOs and other ranks.
Earlier, General Ahmed was welcomed at the Dighinala Zone Headquarters by the GOC of the 24th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Chattogram. He interacted with military personnel and planted a sapling during his visit.
