ARSA’s Zubair faction leader held in Cox’s Bazar

Ukhia Correspondent:

Police arrested a leader of the so-called Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army or ARSA during a raid in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia upazila in the early hours of Tuesday.

Identified as Abu Siddique, son of Bashir Ahmed from Block-B of West Kutupalong Rohingya Camp, he is the arms unit chief of ARSA’s Zubair faction.

During the arrest, a locally made light gun, an Armed Police Battalion or APBn combat uniform and a pair of army military shoes were seized from him, said Naimul Haq, captain of APBn-14.

Siddiqui had collected the APBn uniform so that he could unsuspiciously carry out ARSA organisational activities inside the camp, he said.

Legal action is underway against ARSA leader Siddique, added the APBn-14 captain.
