Body of missing Chinese national found in Cox’s Bazar

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard have recovered the body of a Chinese national, who went missing after a tug ship capsized at the mouth of Matarbari channel under Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar on March 31.

The deceased, Jiang Hong Chen, 45, was working at the Matarbari Coal power plant.

His body was recovered from the channel adjacent to the Matarbari coal power plant around 12:30 pm yesterday.

Media Officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard Lt Commander Abdur Rahman said that a tug ship sank at the mouth of the Sea Channel adjacent to the Matarbari Coal Power Plant last Thursday. Jiang had been missing since then, he said.

After a long rescue operation, his body was recovered by a coastguard team near the channel this afternoon, he added.

Officer-in-Charge (OC Investigation) of Maheshkhali Police Station Ashiq Iqbal said after receiving the information, a team of police have been sent to the spot.
