Businessman abducted in Manikchhari

A 45-year-old businessman has gone missing from Kharichhara under Jogyachhola Union in Khagrachhari’s Manikchhari upazila.

The businessman was identified as Abdul Kader, son of Tofail Ahmed, hailing from the same area.

He was involved in the transportation of the workers of Neptune Tea Garden in his own jeep, commonly known as ‘Chander Gari’ in the Chittagong Hill Tracts or CHT.

Security has been beefed up around the area since after the incident that took place on Tuesday.

According to police and family sources, Kader went missing while returning home – from his Kharichhara shop – in his motorcycle around 8:00am on Tuesday.

Seeing that he was not returning home even late into the night, his family relatives started searching for him here and there.

The next day morning, they found his motorcycle (numberless) in the jungle next to Kharichhara Temple, shoes, scotch tape and a rope and informed police of this.

Police and army have visited the scene.

The victim’s younger brother Md Yusup Mia said, “We are confused about what has happened to him since he has remained missing. He was just involved in the transportation of tea garden workers.”

Manikchhari Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Md Shahnur Alam said, “We, the police and the army, are trying to find him out by looking into the incident.”
