Former leader of Santu-headed JSS faction arrested

Police have arrested a former leader of Jana Samhati Samity-Santu (JSS-Santu) in Rangamati town.

The arrested was identified as Suman Chakma, son of Ganga Ratan Chakma of Mitingachhari Prakash Indumachera area of Sublang Union in the hill district’s Barkal upazila.

Suman Chakma, facing an arrest warrant, was arrested from the Marri Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, July 26, 2022, sources at Barkal Police Station said.

He is an accused in two separate cases of illegal arms and murder, according to them.

Barkal Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Md Nasir Uddin said they have handed over him to Rangamati Court.
