JSS terrorist held with arms in Rangamati

Joint forces arrested a JSS terrorist during a special drive in Rangamati’s Kaptai upazila on Wednesday (November 16, 2022).
The arrested person has been identified as Ranjit Kumar Tanchangya, 61, an armed terrorist of JSS (Jana Samhati Samiti).
One country-made pistol (LG), four rounds of ammunition, one bag, one knife, national identity card, three mobile phones, mobile charger, and power bank were recovered from him.
Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandraghona Police Station, confirmed this all on Thursday afternoon.
A team of joint forces conducted a raid in the Lambachhara area of Kaptai on Wednesday night and arrested Ranjit Kumar Tanchangya in possession of illegal arms and ammunition, he said.
Ranjit Kumar Tanchangya is a leader of the armed wing of Chittagong Hill Tracts-based JSS (Santu) and an active extortionist, according to OC Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury.
A case is underway against him for possessing illegal weapons, he said.
After primary interrogation, OC Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury said, JSS terrorist Ranjit Kumar Tanchangya was handed over to police on Thursday afternoon.
