July Uprising marked as a key milestone in Bangladesh’s struggle for identity, justice, and democracy: CHT Advisor

Supradip Chakma, the Advisor on Hill Tracts Affairs, described the July Uprising as a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s struggle for the establishment of its people’s identity, justice, and democracy. He stated that the sacrifices made by the martyrs of the uprising would continue to inspire the nation.

Speaking as the chief guest at a special religious ceremony and discussion held on July 1 at the Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery in Dhaka, Chakma paid tribute to the martyrs of the July Uprising.

Chakma further stated, “This was an attempt to realise the dream of a new Bangladesh, one where there is a deep desire for justice, democracy, social equality, and cultural victory.”

He added, “The July Uprising was not only a political movement but also a cultural effort to rebuild the people’s identity.”
