PM Hasina continues modernization of Bangladesh Army following in footsteps of Bangabandhu: Army chief

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has continued the modernization and development of the Bangladesh army following in the footsteps of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Army chief has said.
“In 1974, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman formulated the national defense policy of Bangladesh for the first time,” said SM Shafiuddin Ahmed, chief of Bangladesh Army on Tuesday, Dec 6, 2022.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the induction of modernized light tank VT-5 and QW-18A missile system in the artillery regiment, held at Cox’s Bazar Ramu Cantonment on Tuesday (December 6, 2022).
“Following this [in the footsteps of Bangabandhu], the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has continued the modernization and development of the Bangladesh Army.”
“Today’s induction ceremony was organized along the path of that development, and at the same time another phase of the armed forces’ development plan – Forces Goal-2030 – was implemented.”
Also, in his speech, the army chief congratulated all the members of the two units on the occasion of the induction of the new modern light tank VT-5 in a cavalry of the armored core of the Bangladesh Army and the QW 18A missile system in the ad hoc SAM regiment artillery of the artillery regiment.
Chief of General Staff of Bangladesh Army Lieutenant General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, Master General of Ordnance Major General Md. Abu Saeed Siddique, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 24 Infantry Division and Area Commander of Chittagong Major General Mizanur Rahman Shamim, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 10 Infantry Division and Area Commander of Cox’s Bazar Major General Md. Fakhrul Ahsan, Chairman of Army Welfare Organization Major General Iftekhar Anis and Military Secretary Major General Khan Firoz Ahmed, among others, attended the ceremony.
