Traffic resumes in Sajek with Army’s assistance

Road communication between Baghaichhari and Sajek in Rangamati was restored Thursday after a landslide blocked the route.

Early Thursday morning, heavy rainfall and a mountain surge caused a significant portion of a hill to collapse onto the road in the Dab-Adam area, cutting off access to Sajek.

No casualties were reported, but traffic was halted from the morning as a result of the landslide.

The Army’s Baghaichhari Zone began clearing the debris at dawn after receiving news of the incident. Local resort managers, staff, and residents, led by Chai Thoai Aung Chowdhury Joy, Vice-President of the Sajek Cottage Owners Association, also assisted in the cleanup efforts.

Major Ananto Ibn Alam, Camp Commander of the Masalong Army Camp, oversaw the operation. By 5 p.m., traffic had resumed on the road.
