UPDF announces road and waterway blockade in Rangamati

The United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) Rangamati District Unit has announced a blockade on roads and waterways scheduled for next Thursday, April 25.

The decision was made at an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, April 23, involving leaders and representatives from the UPDF Rangamati District Unit and its allied organizations: the Hill Students’ Council, Democratic Youth Forum, and Hill Women’s Federation.

The blockade, aimed at being conducted peacefully, will take place district-wide from 5 AM to 12 PM.

Vehicles related to emergency services such as ambulances and fire services, as well as those involved in the maintenance and operation of water and electrical services, essential medical supplies, and the transportation of journalists and newspapers, will be exempt from the blockade.

The UPDF leadership has appealed to all stakeholders, including the leaders and members of associations and organizations of bus, truck, and launch operators and workers, to support the successful enforcement of the blockade.
