State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam today (Nov 13, 2022) sought Saudi Arabia’s continuous cooperation and support for an early and sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis.

Alam made the urge while he called on the visiting Saudi Deputy Interior Minister Dr. Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al Dawood at a city hotel, a foreign ministry press release said.

During the meeting the state minister briefed the deputy interior minister about the situation arising out of the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals currently sheltered in Bangladesh.

At the outset, both sides discussed a range of bilateral issues and recalled the existing excellent bilateral relations between the two countries.

They also underscored the need to work together in all areas of cooperation for the mutual benefits of the two peoples.

Alam expressed satisfaction for signing Mecca Road Initiative agreement which will enable the pre-immigration process of Hajj in Dhaka and ultimately ease the holy journey of Bangladeshi pilgrims.

He also expressed Bangladesh’s interest in buying Arabian crude oil from Saudi Arabia, the release said.
