The government has ordered its Ambassador to Myanmar, Md Monwar Hossain, to return to Dhaka immediately.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued the directive amid ongoing discussions over a proposed UN-supervised humanitarian corridor in Myanmar’s Rakhine State. Reliable diplomatic sources confirmed that the ambassador has been asked to return this week.
Officials confirmed the move but declined to comment, calling the matter “sensitive.”
Monwar Hossain was appointed in August 2023, succeeding Manjurul Karim Khan. He is a top-ranking officer from the 20th BCS batch.
Earlier, on 13 May, the Ministry of Defence ordered Brig Gen Md Aftab Hossain, Defence Adviser at the Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon, to return home urgently, without a replacement.
