PCNP opposes proposed amendment to ethnic cultural institution law

The Parbatya Chattogram Nagorik Parishad (PCNP) in Rangamati has urged the government to withdraw a proposed amendment to the Small Ethnic Group Cultural Institution Act, 2010.
At a press conference on Saturday, PCNP leaders said the proposed renaming of the institutions as institutes of ethnic diversity would violate the constitution and risk promoting group dominance in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
They also criticised the role of government advisers and commissions involved in the move, calling the process politically motivated.
PCNP warned that such changes could harm cultural diversity and administrative balance in the region.
Senior district leaders, including President Mohammad Solaiman and other office bearers, were present at the event.
