Zaima Rahman says security is biggest difference between London and Dhaka

Barrister Zaima Zarnaz Rahman, daughter of BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman, said security is the biggest difference between living in London and living in Dhaka, according to a post on her verified Facebook account dated Tuesday night, January 20, 2026.
In the post, Zaima Rahman wrote that she often thinks about what “security” means to young people in Bangladesh, particularly when women face online harassment or feel uncomfortable moving around in public. She wrote that such experiences do not remain only a personal matter and can affect society more broadly by creating fear about where people go, what they say, and what they write online.
Zaima Rahman wrote that change could begin with “small and simple” steps, including ensuring a safer online environment, providing easy and confidential remedies for victims of harassment, strengthening education on conduct and safety on digital platforms, and ensuring women can move freely without fear. She added that when women feel safe in daily life, others in society can also live more comfortably as citizens.
In the same post, she shared a video that she described as being from a discussion held last Sunday at Khamarbari in Dhaka city, titled “Women in Nation-Building: Policy, Prospects and Bangladesh’s Future.”
