Two workers injured in terrorist shooting on Khagrachari border road

Two construction workers were seriously injured in a shooting on an under-construction border road in Panchhari Upazila, Khagrachari. The attack, perpetrated by unidentified terrorists, occurred in the Harubil area around 6:30 PM on Friday (December 29).
The victims have been identified as Abdul Rashid, 37, son of Abul Hashem from the Damdam area of Panchhari Upazila, and Angur Mia, 34, son of Madhu Shah from the Madhynagar area.
After completing their day’s work on the border road, the workers were traveling home on a rented motorcycle. As they reached the Harubil area in the evening, the motorcycle was ambushed and fired upon by terrorists, resulting in both workers being shot and collapsing on the road. The motorcycle driver, Ramzan Ali, escaped unharmed.
Following the incident, members of the Logang Zone (3-BGB) responded to the scene and transported the injured workers to the Panchhari Health Complex.
Dr. Md. Parvez, on duty at the Health Complex, said that they referred the two victims to the district headquarters hospital for better treatment after giving them initial medical attention.
Md. Shafiul Azam, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Panchhari Police Station, confirmed the occurrence of the shooting. He noted that two people were injured in the incident, although the identity of the terrorist group responsible remains unknown.
