Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has said Bangladesh has boarded the “election train” with the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections.
He made the remarks in a Facebook post on Tuesday morning, shortly after polling began at 08:00.
“After this will come the train of the national election,” he wrote, while congratulating all on the occasion.
Voting is taking place in a festive and peaceful atmosphere across eight polling centres on the university campus.
The election will continue until 16:00.
According to officials, 471 candidates are competing for 28 positions in this year’s DUCSU polls.
