The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has repatriated 330 Myanmar citizens, including members of the Border Guard Police (BGP), who had fled to Bangladesh seeking refuge amid ongoing conflicts in Myanmar.

The handover took place on Thursday morning under the oversight of BGB’s Cox’s Bazar region.

This group comprised 302 BGP personnel, four of their family members, two military members, 18 immigration officials, and four civilians, highlighting the diverse backgrounds of those affected by the unrest in Myanmar.

The transfer ceremony was attended by notable figures including BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashraful Islam Siddiqui and the Ambassador of Myanmar to Bangladesh, U Aung Kyaw Moe.

The repatriation was conducted in line with the decisions from a diplomatic meeting held on February 11, overseen by a committee comprising representatives from various government sectors.
