The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified patrols in the Nalgaria and Nowabadi areas of Singarbil Union, located in the Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria, following reports of a possible push-in attempt along the Bangladesh-India border.

According to local sources, announcements were made via mosque loudspeakers on Thursday night, advising residents to remain alert. The announcements reportedly contributed to public concern and heightened vigilance in the area.

Intelligence reports indicated that approximately 150 individuals had gathered near a gate adjacent to Agartala Airport on the Indian side. In response, BGB increased patrol activities overnight, deploying additional personnel and enhancing surveillance measures based on instructions from senior command.

Residents, including Anis Mia and Fazlul Haque, stated that increased BGB presence led to unease among local villagers. The precautionary mosque announcements were made as a result.

Footage allegedly showing the situation circulated on social media shortly after 11:00 PM on Thursday, further contributing to concern among the local population.

Lieutenant Colonel Jabbar Ahmed, Commanding Officer of BGB Battalion-25, confirmed that patrols were reinforced as part of preemptive measures. “In view of the national context and intelligence inputs, BGB is maintaining heightened alert along the border. Preventive steps were taken to address the reported possibility of a push-in attempt,” he said.

As of Friday, BGB authorities confirmed that no actual border infiltration had taken place. The situation continues to be closely monitored.
