The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has uncovered an arms manufacturing facility in the secluded hills of Eidgarh in Cox’s Bazar’s Ramu. During the operation, four individuals, including two craftsmen involved in arms production, were apprehended.

The arms facility was discovered in the early hours of Wednesday (13 December) on Chagirakata Tulatelee hill in the Eidgarh Union of Ramu Upazila.

A substantial quantity of arms and equipment used for arms manufacturing were seized in the operation. However, Moniul Haque, the owner and chief craftsman of the factory, managed to flee upon sensing RAB’s presence.

Lieutenant Colonel H.M. Sajjad Hossain, commander of RAB-15, said that a group had long been engaged in arms manufacturing at the factory. Acting on confidential intelligence, RAB succeeded in arresting four persons – two from the factory and two from a residential property.

He also said there might be multiple other arms manufacturing factories in this remote, hilly region. Efforts are currently underway to initiate legal proceedings against the detainees at Ramu Police Station, in accordance with applicable laws.
