KNF member killed in Bandarban, arms seized

A member of the Kuki Chin National Front (KNF) was killed in a military-led operation in Ruma, Bandarban, with several weapons and ammunition being recovered, authorities reported on Tuesday.
The clash occurred in the afternoon in the secluded Darjeeling Para area of Ruma Upazila. Following the incident, police retrieved the body from the scene and transported it to Ruma Hospital.
The deceased, identified as 38-year-old Nem Mun Ngak Bom, was a resident of Darjeeling Para in the 7th ward of Ruma Sadar Union. He was the son of Lal Thuang Bom.
According to local sources, Darjeeling Para is approximately 26 kilometers from Ruma town. The confrontation involved a joint force led by the army and alleged terrorists from KNF. During the engagement, a KNF member was fatally shot by the joint forces, prompting the remaining KNF members to retreat.
Security forces reported recovering one shotgun, two AK22 rifles, one AK32 rifle, 60 rounds of automatic ammunition, nine rounds of shotgun shells, three rounds of sniper ammunition, and nine rounds of pistol ammunition. The seized items have been secured at Ruma Police Station.
Shahjahan, the officer-in-charge at Ruma Police Station, confirmed the recovery of the KNF member’s body and stated that an extensive cache of weaponry and ammunition was also recovered from the location.
