Bangladesh’s commitment to diversity and communal harmony, deeply rooted in the ethos set by the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is being continuously upheld by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, stated Kujendra Lal Tripura, the State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.

Addressing a gathering at the Sri Sri Gita Yagya and Mahati Dharma Sabha-2024, held at the Sri Sri Shankar Math Parthasarathi Ashram in the Khagrachhari district, Tripura lauded the efforts of Sheikh Hasina in promoting peace and goodwill across the country.

“In a country as densely populated and diverse as Bangladesh, the teachings and values of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman resonate more than ever, guiding us to observe religious teachings and practices for the betterment of all humanity,” Tripura remarked. He further emphasized, “His distinguished daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has successfully fostered an environment of harmony and goodwill, echoing her father’s legacy.”

During his keynote on Friday night, Tripura highlighted Bangladesh’s model of non-communalism, attributing the peaceful coexistence in the hill tracts to the historic Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord, initiated by Sheikh Hasina on December 2, 1997. This landmark agreement concluded years of conflict among the hill communities, marking a significant step towards peace.

“The Prime Minister’s initiatives have not only forged stronger ties among the hill communities but also showcased the Chittagong Hill Tracts as a beacon of natural beauty,” he expressed his gratitude. “We owe a great deal of this development and recognition to her visionary leadership, making us, the people of the hill tracts, immensely proud and grateful.”

The meeting was chaired by Shiv Shankar Deb, Chairman of the Sri Sri Shankar Math Partha Sarathi Ashram Management Committee. Additionally, before the discussions, Tripura participated in a cultural program, attended by thousands of devotees.
