Rohingya among 2 arrested with yaba in Rajshahi

The Rapid Action Battalion arrested two suspected drug peddlers, a Rohingya, with 1,000 pieces of yaba tablets at Kathalbaria village under Puthia upazila in Rajshahi on Sunday night ( July 31).
The arrestees were identified as Raju Ahmed, 31, son of late Abdur Razzak of Kathalbaria village, and Md Habibullah, 29, son of Md Baksu of Kutupalong Rohingya camp under Ukhia police station in Cox’s Bazar.
RAB 5 company commander Major Md Nazmus Shakib said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in a house at Kathalbaria village under Puthia upazila in Rajshahi at 10:30pm and detained Raju and Habibullah with yaba tablets, two mobile phones and two SIM cards.
Md Nazmus Shakib said that Habibullah confessed that he supplied the contraband tablets from Cox’s Bazar to different parts of the country and Raju brought them to sell in different areas of Rajshahi district.
‘We filed a case against the detainees with Puthia police on Monday under the Narcotics Control Act in this connection,’ added the RAB official.
