Terrorists target truck involved in roadwork
BAGHAICHHARI CORRESPONDENT
Terrorists opened fire on a drum truck engaged in the construction of the Marishya-Majhipara border road in the Modhya Baghaichhari area of the Baghaichhari sub-district in Rangamati.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 9:30 PM on Thursday (December 28).
The truck, sources say, was involved in supplying sand for the construction of the Marishya-Majhipara border road.
Md. Shahalam, the owner of the truck, recounted that as the vehicle was returning to Marishya after transporting sand to the border road, terrorists shot at it twice near Danbir Chakma’s house in the Modhya Baghaichhari area of the Baghaichhari Union. The truck’s glass was shattered in the attack. Fortunately, the driver and helper were unharmed.
Several truck drivers, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that after 7 PM, a regional organization in the hills imposed restrictions on vehicular movement on this road, which they believe led to the attack.
Officer-in-Charge of the Baghaichhari Police Station, Ishtiaq Ahmed, when contacted, said they are aware of the incident and are investigating the matter.
